Two foreigners hold illusion show in Thamel street for food and visa

KATHMANDU: Two foreigners held an illusion show on the street in Thamel of Kathmandu to collect money to renew their visas and foods on Saturday night.

The foreigners were a German man named Filo and a Bangladeshi woman named Sarika. The man sat cross-legged holding a single leg of a chair with his left hand firmly, on which the woman was sitting cross-legged with closed eyes in the meditation posture.

A paper notice was found lying beside them, which read, “HELLO! OUR NAMES ARE FILO & SARIKA. WE ARE LEVITATING TO COLLECT MONEY FOR FOOD & VISA. THANK YOU!"

Piles of money were found being donated by Nepali pedestrians as well as foreigners, who had gathered around the illusion show on the street.

In an interview with THT Online, the foreigner man introduced himself to be a native of Munich in Germany and the girl from Bangladesh.

Filo said that he set on travelling around the world five years before and met Sarika four years ago in Bangladesh. Since then, they have been travelling together around the world. The German said that he does different kinds of shows on the street including the musical shows, illusion shows and other kind of tricks to collect money for their foods, accommodation, visas and travel fare.

The German told THT Online that during his trekking adventure around Nepal, they stayed for a couple of days at Milan Chowk in Beni of Myagdi district. They gave hand in the reconstruction of a house damaged by the devastating April 25 earthquake. Further, he said their visas for Nepal were going to be expired in next three days.
