UML accuses NC of bringing budget unilaterally

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML on Tuesday accused the Nepali Congress of bringing this year's budget unilaterally, thereby violating the spirit of a joint government.

In the UML Parliamentary Party meeting held at the Constituent Assembly building at New Baneshwor, party leaders expressed concern citing the budget was not centered on reconstruction in the aftermath of the earthquake and lacked consensus.

The trend of bringing budget without even the consent of the ruling partner has shown that Nepali Congress has failed to embrace the norms and values of the joint government, UML reiterated.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli after the meeting told media that lawmakers had raised concern over NC's unilateral move regarding budget.

He added that his party would press for finalising the issue of delineation of provincial borders and their naming at the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC).

According to him, his party would play a positive role for delivery of the new constitution by mid August.
