UML to hold Constitution Day function in Basantapur

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML on Thursday decided to organise a special function in Basantapur of Kathmandu on coming Monday, September 19, to mark the first Constitution Day.

A Standing Committee meeting of the party held today made a decision to this effect, informed party Secretary Pradeep Gyawali in a statement.

Before the main event, the party would hold a rally from Shanti Batika of Ratnapark to Basantapur, according to the party.

Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli among others would address the function.

Meanwhile, the party formed a 52-member Liaison Coordination Committee under the leadership of party leader Chhabilal Bishwakarma in order to transform existing Zonal Liaison Committees of the party into the provincial ones so as to comply with the recently restructured party organisation.

The party had recently formed its Provincial Committees in line with the Constitution promulgated last year.

Meanwhile, the party assigned leaders who had defected to the UML from various other parties recently with various responsibilities.

The next Standing Committee meeting would be held on coming Tuesday, September 20, according to Gyawali.
