UML-aligned organisation wins trade union poll

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML-aligned Nepal Civil Servants Employees Association has emerged victorious in the Civil Servants' Trade Union election held on Wednesday.

Chief Election Officer Gita Prasad Timalsena said the Association secured 44.39 per cent votes (21,127) to win the election.

Nepali Congress (NC)-aligned Nepal Civil Servants Employees Union obtained 34.16 per cent votes (16,259) to secure the second position.

Likewise, CPN Maoist Centre's wing Nepal National Civil Servants Employees Association garnered 10.57 per cent or 5,027 votes.

The Nepal Madhesi Civil Servants Employees Forum, loyal to Madhes-centric parties, garnered 7.48 per cent or 3,561 votes.

Of the total 55, 329 voters, 88.73 per cent (49,095) had voters cast their votes, Timalsena said, adding 1,501 votes were declared invalid.
