Veteran singer Panna Kaji Shakya passes away

KATHMANDU: Veteran singer and composer Panna Kaji Shakya died of cardiac arrest in Kathmandu on Wednesday. He was 85.

Famous for songs like "Tiriri Murali Bajyo", Shakya breathed his last at around 7:30 am today.

Born on December 30, 1931, Shakya was brought up in Ombahal.

He had worked for Radio Nepal for a long time and had composed songs like "Kina Kina Timro Tasbir", "Lolaeka Ti Timra Aakha", et cetera.

After the 2015 earthquake destroyed his house at Ombahal, the family was staying at Tahachal, where he died.

Shakya is survived by four sons and a daughter.

Among his sons, Prabesh Man and Pabitra Man are active in the Nepali music industry.
