Lalitpur, January 30

Minister for Home Affairs Shakti Bahadur Basnet said on Saturday that road safety was a shared concern of all and everyone should be aware regarding traffic rules.

Inaugurating a one-day workshop on ‘Role of National Stakeholders in Road Safety’, Minister Basnet underscored the need for collective efforts in the development and upgradation of road networks to reduce road accidents in and outside the valley.

Home Secretary Narayan Gopal Malego said it was necessary to make timely changes to legal provisions to improve and ensure road safety.

Arjun Kumar Karki, secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, informed that the ministry was preparing to replace small vehicles with bigger vehicles to ease the traffic pressure in the Kathmandu Valley.
