KATHMANDU: Greenland Children Academy (GCA) Higher Secondary School is organising the Wai-Wai Women’s Region-III (Kathmandu) Selection Cricket Tournament at the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya grounds from Wednesday. In all six teams — GCA ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’, Trijyoti Higher Secondary School, Rajan Memorial International School, Baluwatar Cricket Training Centre and Tribhuvan Adarsha Higher Secondary School — are participating in the fourth edition of the tournament. KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Butwal Elite English School began with win in the 52nd Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament in New Delhi, India on Monday. The U-14 team from Butwal-based school defeated Sikkim 2-1 in their first group stage match. Suraj Hamal and Shiva Subedi scored one goal each for the winners. KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has sped up the preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup finals with four months left to host one of the prestigious tournaments.
The finals which will be held here in Kathmandu on March 3-18 features eight teams — DPR Korea, Palestine, Philippines, India, Turkmenistan, Maldives and Tajikistan and Nepal. Players, officials and journalists of all the seven participating teams suffered due to the worst management of the tournament organised at an isolated islands. LALITPUR: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has decided to organise the inaugural National League outside the Kathmandu Valley from December 17.
A meeting between ANFA and the top eight clubs, who qualified for the tournament from the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull ‘A’ Division League this season, reached the agreement to play the National League outside Kathmandu in a single round-robin league.
The clubs had reached the agreement due to the unavailability of grounds as it coincides with the AFC Challenge Cup finals to be held from March 3 to 18.

FUVAHMULAH: Nepal lost to Pakistan by 73 runs in their third and final Group B match of the SAARC Under-25 Twenty20 Cricket Cup here at the Ahmed Ali Didi Stadium today.
Put into bat first, Pakistan struggled to 176-9 in 20 overs and Nepal managed 103-9 in reply. Pakistan topped the group ahead of Sri Lanka. Nepal finished third with two points thanks to their six-wicket victory over India’s Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC).
