JHAPA: Limbuwan student unions in the district today padlocked Mechi Multiple Campus in Bhadrapur indefinitely.
Demanding a fully proportional electoral system in the Free Student Union election, Limbuwan aligned student unions including Federal Student Union, Limbuwan Student Council, and CPN-M aligned ANNISU-R jointly shut the campus today.

staging a fast unto death since Tuesday, deteriorated today.
Chief of Emergency Department at Bir Hospital Dr Dhruva Prasad Singh, who checked up Mahato’s health said the level of sodium in the SP leader’s blood had dropped. What is however more worrisome is that the doctor found acetone positive in the fasting leader’s urine, which could affect Mahato’s kidneys and other vital organs of the body, Singh said.

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today charged that Nepali Congress and CPN-UML did not want elections.
“Both the NC and UML are working to foil the election on different pretexts,” Dahal alleged at a picnic organised by Newa Rastriya Mukti Morcha at Chovar, to mark its establishment day.
He said NC and UML floated the idea of threshold, which is not practiced anywhere in the world, so as to foil the election.

KATHMANDU: An 80-year-old Japanese who underwent heart surgery in January reached the summit of Mount Everest today, becoming the oldest person to scale the world’s highest mountain.
Yuichiro Miura and his party, including his second son Gouta, arrived at the summit at around 9:00 am, according to Miura’s website, besting the previous age record by four years.

KATHMANDU: The Cabinet today appointed former Secretary Rabindra Kumar Shakya as Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission.
Shakya, a PhD from Mumbai University, had been working as an independent researcher since his retirement 15 years ago.
Talking to THT today, Shakya, however, said he is yet to receive the appointment letter.

MAHENDRANAGAR: Seven persons, including 3 Indian nationals, lost their lives in a road accident in Darchula today.
Forty-one others were injured, 13 seriously, when a bus heading to Darchula from Mahendranagar veered off the road and fell 50 metres below the road into a river at Gokuleshwor, Thulasaini at about 6:00 am.
Police have identified the deceased as Gopalsingh Khatri, 32, of Sarmoli, Darchula, Narasingh Dhami, 38, of Kharkada, bus owner Krishna Bhatta, 40, of Mahendranagar and driver Karan Saud, 26, of Sarmoli.
