KATHMANDU: The Residents’ Association of NAMS (RAN) today demanded the amendment of National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) Act-2006 for sustainable development of NAMS and Bir Hospital.
The struggle committee of resident doctors at Bir Hospital has forwarded their ten-point demands for the development of the hospital. It has padlocked the office of the Vice Chancellor, Rector, Registrar and the Dean since Tuesday accusing them of ignoring its demands.

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has directed its units in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding districts to keep vigil on activities of former State Minister for Finance Lharkyal Lama.
He had quit the post amid allegations of holding multiple citizenships.

KATHMANDU: No headway has been made to resolve the burial ground row even after 31 days of relay hunger strike organised by Christians.
Talks between the government and Christians on the burial ground row was held on April 18 at the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture (MoFACPAC), and another round of talks has been decided within three days.

KATHMANDU: Mrigendra Samjhana Medical Trust today called on the government to effectively implement the provisions of the Tobacco Product Control and Regulatory Bill- 2010.
The trust, which has been working on spreading awareness about effects of tobacco consumption for the last 36 years, lauded the role played by the Ministry Of Health and Population lawmakers and other bodies in getting the bill passed. The parliament had passed the bill on April 11.

They have been identified as Rahul Singh (18), Manhu Gowala, (20), Suraj Gowala (18), Mangal Gowala (22), Rohit Gowala (22), Yakul Gowala (18) and Samayal Gowala (23) from Cooch Behar Rajbari, West Bengal.
