KATHMANDU: Valuables worth Rs 1,45,000 were stolen from a house in Dhapasi of Kathmandu Monday.
Taking advantage of the occupants' absence, unidentified thieves decamped with gold and silver ornaments from Krishna Prasad Adhikari's rented room at around 4 pm.
Adhikari is a permanent resident of Gadhigurase-1, Sindhuli district.

KATHMANDU: An armed gang robbed property worth Rs 1,75,000 from a house in Sirutar of Bhaktapur district in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
Police said unidentified robbers barged into 62-year-old Ram Prasad Thapa's house at around 2:25 am and took control the family members showing sharp weapons for the heist.
They decamped with gold ornaments made up of three tola gold, Rs 5500 in cash and a Nokia mobile set, according to a complaint lodged at police.

KATHMANDU: Police on Monday apprehended three persons on charge of vandalism and attacking Nepal Television crew members from Chhaling on the outskirts of Bhaktapur.
They are identified as Bishwa Ram Khadka (42), Uddhav Khadka (51) and Yagya Khadka (41) of Chhaling-7.

KATHMANDU: A joint police team deployed from the Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau and Metropolitan Police Sector Janasewa detained a 28-year-man in possession of a piece of Red Panda hide on Monday.
Identified as Bangtup Tamang alias Saroj (28) of Gumba-5, Sindhupalchowk district, the suspect was rounded up from the Sundhara-based Namaste Guest House.
Red Panda is an endangered animal.
Tamang and the contraband were sent to the Central Investigation Bureau for further investigation.

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam has said that the Constituent Assembly election would be held on November 19 at any cost.

KATHMANDU: A woman, who consumed pesticide in an apparent case of suicide, breathed her last on the way to hospital on Tuesday.
Police said Daya Khadka (42), who hailed from Duwakot-2, Bhaktapur, was found unconscious at her maternal home in Suryabinayak at around 4:30 this morning.
Her husband Rajkumar Khadka and father Mathawar Singh Basnet had rushed her to the Iwamura Memorial Hospital for treatment.

KATHMANDU: Police said a 45-year-old man died after he slipped and hit a stone on a road before nosediving in a water-filled pothole, near the Korean Hospital in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-12, Bhaktapur on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Nima Sherpa, a permanent resident of Badalu, Okhaldhugha district. He was a lineman at the Gaththaghar-based Nepal Telecom, and was currently residing at Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-15.

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and damage caused by the floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in various parts of the country.
