108 victims get third tranche of grant

As many as 108 earthquake victims of the eastern hilly district of Bhojpur have received the third instalment amount offered to quake victims to build houses, till date.

Of the 5,749 quake victims in Bhojpur, only 108 have received the third instalment of the government grant. National Reconstruction Authority District Project Implementation Unit Chief in Bhojpur Rajan Raj Raddi said 5,065 victims had taken the first instalment, 2,236 received the second instalment while 108 victims received the third instalment.

Quake victims have been facing problems after the authority did not approve the completed houses saying they were constructed without meeting government criteria.

It is said less number of victims received the instalment after the concerned authority did not check the constructed house on time.

The National Reconstruction Authority district project implementation unit has held orientation for staffers and stakeholders at the local levels. Raddi, the project implementation unit chief, said that the two-day orientation was organised among chiefs and deputy chiefs, along with administrative officers and staffers of two municipalities and seven rural municipalities, in the district from yesterday. He informed that the orientation had concluded today.
