Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota today said the government had blocked access to around 16,000 porn sites in Nepal.

Addressing a programme organised to felicitate Acharya Balkrishna at Patanjali Aayurved Campus in Dhulikhel, Baskota said the government had blocked 16,000 porn sites as they had led to social perversion. “After daughters and daughters-in-laws started feeling insecure at home, we started blocking such sites,” Baskota added.

The minister said some sporadic incidents might take place due to morally degenerated individuals. He held that some insane people and their degenerate mentality might be involved in rape and murder incidents. “The government has not gone insane. Not all Nepalis are insane. Thus, incidents of rape and murder will go down gradually,” he added.

Baskota said yoga and spirituality would inculcate politeness and help restore peace and tranquillity. He asked all and sundry to start practising yoga and meditation. “People have to be moral and responsible. The country can take pride in such qualities,” Baskota stated.

Meanwhile, addressing a drinking water management workshop in Dhulikhel, Baskota said unlawful and excessive use of natural resources had imperilled water sources. “Everyone ought to realize that water crisis will pose threat to livelihood.
