2 dead, 8 hurt as jeep plunges 100m in Dolakha

KATHMANDU: Two persons died and eight others sustained injuries after the bolero jeep they were travelling on fell below the road in Bigu Rural Municipality-4 of Dolakha district on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as locals Ishwori Thapa (45) and Tika Bahadur Karki (50).

The incident occurred when the jeep (Ba 14 Cha 1681) fell about 100 metres below the road in Laduk Kahare injuring 10 persons including the driver, at 7:00 pm yesterday, according to police.

Among the injured, five were rushed to a health facility in Kathmandu, however, Karki and Thapa succumbed to their injuries on the way while three are undergoing treatment there, informed District Police Office, Dolakha.

Meanwhile, five others who were injured have been undergoing treatment at the Dolakha-based Singati Community Hospital, Dolakha police said.

Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
