2 held with 160 kg marijuana

KATHMANDU: A police team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police arrested two persons in possession of 160 kilo gram compressed marijuana at a road side near Jhaple river in Chandragiri Municipality-2, on the western outskirt of Kathmandu recently.

Acting on tip-off, police frisked a petroleum tanker (Na 4 Kha 5368) and recovered 160 kg marijuana packed in seven plastic bags inside the driver's chamber on Saturday.

Police identified the arrestees as tanker driver 22-year-old Som Bahadur Thokar of Taha Municipality-11 and 36-year-old Iman Singh Sangbo of Kailash Rural Municipality-2 in Makwanpur district.

Along with the suspects, police have also impounded the vehicle for further investigation into the case, police said.

The tanker with the consignment was heading to India via Malangwa in Sarlahi district. According to NCB, the duo were involved in smuggling drugs from Nepal to India for long time.

Meanwhile, the investigation is underway.
