2 Indian men held with 1 kg gold

BHAIRAHAWA: Police arrested two Indian nationals in possession of one kg undeclared gold from Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, an Armed Police Force (APF) team nabbed Hari Om Kumar (25) and Sujit Kumar (26) of Motihari, India from the Eye Hospital Chok in Bhairahawa.

DSP Shankar Khanal said the duo had wrapped the gold in a white cloth and tied it on the waist.

Both of them have been handed over to the Bhairahawa-based Belahiya Customs Office for investigation.

The market price of the seized gold is around Rs 4.77 million.

It has been learned that the duo had possessed the gold, which was brought from Hong Kong, from Kathmandu and trying to smuggle to India via Bhairahawa border.
