RAUTAHAT: Two people died and six others sustained injuries after a commuter bus hit a tractor near Lamaha forest in Chandranigahapur of Rautahat district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Som Bahadur Majhi (50) and Kul Bahadur Majhi (22) of Nijgadh-7 of Bara district, SP Netra Mani Giri said.

The tragedy took place when the over speeding bus (Na 4 Kha 6229) en route to Janakpur from Kathmandu hit the tractor  (Na 2 Ta 3056) heading towards Chandranigapur from Nijgadh from behind at the Lamaha Bridge in Chandranigahapur at around 5:30 am today, police informed.

Police identified the injured as Dhan Bahadur Majhi, Binesh Majhi, Dipak Bhandari and Ganga Karki.

Police suspected that Dhan Bahadur might be the driver of the tractor.

Among the injured, Binesh has been taken to the Narayani Regional Hospital in Birgunj for treatment while others are being treated at the Chandranigahapur Hospital, DSP Giri informed.

He said that the bus driver is on the run and they are searching for him.
