2 killed in Manang jeep accident

LAMJUNG: Two persons were killed after a jeep carrying 13 passengers caught in an accident in Manang district on Thursday.

Critically injured Bikram Budha (25) of Kapre in Rukum died on the way to hospital while the identity of another passenger killed on the spot is yet to be established , acording to police.

The jeep (Ga 1 Ja 6602) en route to Beshisahar in Lamjung from Humde in Manang  skidded off the road and fell some 20 metres down the hill at Pisang in Manang.

Critically injured four passengers, who were scheduled to be airlifted to Kathmandu, have been sent to a better equipped hospital in Beshisahar as the bad weather  hampered the helicopter rescue.

The other victims have been undergoing treatment at the Chame-based District Hospital, said police. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to find the jeep driver, who is at large after the incident.
