2 killed in accident after protesters pelt stones at passenger bus in Saptari

SAPTARI: Two people were killed and 12 others seriously injured when a passenger bus escorted by security personnel turned turtle at Bhardaha-1 of Saptari district along the East-West Highway on early Friday morning.

According to preliminary information, the bus met with the fatal accident after protesters of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) pelted stone at it.

The bus with registration number Na 5 Pa 1664 was heading towards Kakarbhitta of eastern Nepal from Sindhuli.

The deceased has been identified as nine-year-old Nirjala Basnet of Tulsipur-4 of Dhanusha district, while the other victim is yet to be identified.

The injured are undergoing treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institution of Health Sciences and local health post.
