2 women held with 92.38kg Marijuana in Makawanpur

MAKAWANPUR: Makawanpur police arrested two Indian women on the charge of possessing 92.38 kilogrammes of marijuana from Manahari Rural Municipality-9 along the East-West Highway of Makawanpur district on Friday morning.

The arrestees have been identified as Sumitra Devi Sahani (35) and Rimki Devi (25), both of Chhatauni Kalam, Motihari district in India.

According to police, the duo were arrested during a random security check at Rajaiya on an Indian registered car (UP 21 AF 1854) en route from Manahari to Hetauda, and confiscated the illegal marijuana packaged in 44 pouches from them.

The pouches were placed in various hidden spots of the car including inside the doors, trunk, and underneath the seats, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Bikash Raj Khanal, Chief of District Police Office, Makawanpur.

The marijuana was procured from Kailash Rural Municipality of the district and was being transported to India, according to police.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway and search is on for the driver who fled the scene, said police.
