NUWAKOT: A person died on the spot and another was critically injured when a scooter they were riding on skidded and fell some 20 metres off the road in Kakani of Nuwakot district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as the rider Rupa Tamang (20) of Jarangkhuwa, Tarakeshwor Municipality and critically injured as pillion rider Sirjana Shrestha (22), according to Inspector Kailash Bhattarai of the Kakani Police Post.

Shrestha has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment, Bhattarai further informed.

The scooter (Ba 79 Pa 9098) had gone out of control and fell off the Pasang Lahmu Highway this morning.
