3 families of Tanahun complain of not getting 'red sticker'

TANAHUN: Three families of Tanahun district expressed their grievances of not getting 'red sticker' though the devastating earthquake of April 25 completely damaged their houses.

The Rajbansi families of Manpang-6 of Tanahun complained that they have not got 'red sticker' albeit the great earthquake completely razed their houses to ground.

The houses of Khil Kumar Shahi, Krishna Bahadur BK and Shankar Singh Thakuri were completely damaged in the April 25 earthquake.

Khil Kumari Shahi (58), a single woman said that though her house was completely damaged in the earthquake, the VDC has not provided 'red sticker' yet.

Notwithstanding the powerful temblor destroyed utensils, clothes and paddy, the VDC has not provided any relief materials yet, Shahi bemoaned.

“First I lodged an application at the police station with photo. Officials of the VDC time and again inspect the house and promised to provide relief materials. But I have not received any succour till now,” she said.

She was forced to live in the collapsed house with her younger son.

Shankar Singh Thakuri (46) has also same quandary.

The VDC did not provide the red sticker after the officials saw them living in a new shanty.

Ujeli Nepali, Cham Bahadur Ale, Ram Bahadur Saru, Dhan Bahadur Kumal have vented their anger saying that the VDC did not provide 'yellow sticker' though their houses were partially damaged in the earthquake.

Om Bahadur Nepali, a local social worker said that the VDC should provide red sticker to the people whose houses were completely destroyed in the tremor without any discrimination.

Guru Prasad Ghimire, Secretary at the Manpang VDC informed that preparations are underway to distribute card to the people.

Among the 228 houses which were completely destroyed in the earthquake, 132 have already taken 'red card'.

According to Chief District Officer Mahadev Pantha, the Red Cross Tanahun chapter would distribute relief materials in the Manpang VDC.
