Only 50 pc poll candidates in Kavre give expense details

Only half the number of candidates from different political parties and independents who had contested for different posts in the first phase of the civic polls held on May 14 have submitted their poll expense details to the district election office till date in Kavre.

After the Election Commission issued a directive to the candidates to submit election expenditure, half the number of candidates from the district submitted their poll expenses at the district election office, Kavre.

The district election office had contacted the party offices and pressed the parties to submit the details of expenses after candidates failed to furnish their expenses within two months after the polls.

The law has it that candidates should produce polls expense details before the election office within 30 days of the election.

According to Kavre District Election Officer Madhukar Prasad Pokhrel, of the total 2,727 candidates who had filed their nomination, only 1,368 have submitted their details.

Eighty-two candidates from Khanikhola Rural Municipality, 99 from Mahabharat Rural Municipality, 113 from Bhumlu Rural Municipality, 177 from Banepa Municipality, 154 from Dhulikhel Municipality, among other candidates from different local units, have furnished their expenses.

Of late, the Election Commission has provisioned that all candidates should submit their details of poll expense before the District Coordination Committee is formed.

“Those who fail to submit their expenditure details cannot participate in the DCC election,” the district election officer added.
