500 freight trucks stopped at Sunauli in Indian side

NAWALPARASI: The Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Thursday blocked as many as 500 trucks loaded with freights from entering Nepal via Sunauli border point.

Rupandehi Chief District Officer (CDO) Bishnu Prasad Dhakal said the Indian border security force did not allow the vehicles to enter Nepal reportedly citing orders from higher authorities.

Earlier, four trucks entered Bhairahawa in Nepal side till 11 am today, according to him.

The neighbouring Nawalparasi’s CDO, Hari Prasad Mainali, said no vehicle passed through sub-customs points in the district.

It has been reported that the Indian government has tightened movement of vehicles considering growing tensions in Tarai region of Nepal due to the protests carried out by Madhesi parties.
