79yo woman murdered in Kaski

POKHARA: A woman has been found dead in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-8 of Kaski district on Monday.

According to police, 79-year-old local Kaushila Gurung was found dead in her room on Monday afternoon.

After preliminary investigation, police have found that Gurung was pelted with a rock on Sunday night, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) and Chief of Kaski Police, Om Rana.

SP Rana further said that the deceased was inflicted with deep injuries on her head resulting in excessive bleeding; she also bore marks around her neck. It has been presumed that motive behind the murder could be robbery as a gold necklace and a pair of her gold earrings are missing.

A team of police, including SP Rana and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Man Gurung, had reached the incident site the same night and brought the body to Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara for postmortem.

Kaushila had been living with her eldest son, Chitra Bahadur Gurung, who had gone to his sister's place in Rivan for work the previous day. When the son returned home on Monday, he found the house locked from outside and saw his mother from the window lying still. He informed the police, after which they broke into the house and found that Kaushila had already died.

Investigation into the case is underway and the perpetrator will be found soon, said SP Rana.
