At least 9 killed in Lamjung bus accident

KATHMANDU: The death toll in the bus accident in Jita of Lamjung district is said to have reached nine.

Our Tanahun correspondent Madan Wagle quoted an official of at the District Police Office that the toll reached nine.

Likewise, at least 12 were reportedly injured.

The bus driver Suraj BK is on the run.

At least 8 killed in Lamjung bus accident

KATHMANDU: At least eights persons were killed in a bus accident in Tamakhani, Jita of Lamjung district on Thursday afternoon.

Lamjung District Police Office Chief, DSP Sambhu Prasad Dhakal, told THT Online from the district headquarters Beshishahar that the passenger bus (Na 6 Kha 4136) met with the accident at around 5:00 pm today.

It has been learned that the bus skidded off the road and fell around 200 metres down.

The victims are yet to be identified.

Details about nature of the accident, casualties and rescue operations are awaited as a police team has just reached the incident site in Madhya Nepal Municipality-5, he informed.

"We cannot be sure of the number of injured persons," he said.

The Rastriya Samachar Samiti, however, reported that seven persons were injured in the accident.

The bus had left Damauli of neighbouring Tanahun district for Jita this afternoon.
