Admission campaign fails to take Ramechhap kids to schools

RAMECHHAP: Every year, the government launches the new admission campaign to increase the number of students in schools, but to no avail.

More than 4000 children are still deprived of education in Ramechhap district.

Last year, the District Education Office (DEO) had informed that 6,200 children of the district were out of the school.

Khubi Ram Adhikari, District Education Officer, informed that this year also, the DEO has organised various programmes to enroll out-of-school children.

According to Ramesh Thapaliya, Assistant District Education Officer, the DEO has launched the campaign with the slogan of "free of sexual violence and discrimination schools" to include all the children, who are deprived of education. However, the campaign was not a success as expected, he added.

The children aged 6 to 12 years are out of school in the district.

Due to poverty and superstitious beliefs, the campaign was not successful, informed the DEO.

Saipu VDC has the most out-of-school children in the district.
