Aftershock of ML 4.4 recorded in Kavrepalanchok

KATHMANDU: A light aftershock of the April 25 earthquake was recorded in Kavrepalanchok district on Friday.

According to the National Seismological Centre, Lainchaur, it recorded a tremor of local magnitude 4.4 at 11:57 am today.

The coordinates of epicentre 27.50°N, 85.50°E, provided by the NSC, show that the epicentre was close to Dhunkharka in the district.

The last aftershock with 4.1 on the Richer scale was recorded at 8:36 pm on Thursday with its epicentre at Sindhupalchok district.

With this, the number of significant aftershocks of local magnitude 4.0 or above has reached 366 since April 25.

Meanwhile, the official death toll of the devastating earthquake has been put to 8897 so far.
