Alleged rapist gets clean chit

POKHARA: The Kaski District Court has given the clean chit to a rape suspect who was in the judicial custody for allegedly raping his 14-year-old student on March 17, 2015 in Pokhara.

A single bench of judge Narishwor Bhandari acquitted Laxman Khawas of Armala, Pokhara-28 on Monday.

The family of the alleged victim had filed a complaint against Khawas on March 21, 2015.

The Court could not collect enough evidences against Khawas as both the suspect and the witnesses denied happening of such incident, the bench observed.

Details of the verdict are yet to come.

Father of the victim complained that they could not get justice.

Political parties and community leaders allegedly had pressured the victim to sign some papers, on the basis of which the Court decided to acquit Khawas, the victim's father told journalists.
