Arson at Mathiya police post after protester shot dead in Gaur

RAUTAHAT: An irate mob on Tuesday late afternoon targeted a police post at Mathiya VDC after a local youth was fatally shot at during a violent demonstration in the district headquarters, Gaur, in the afternoon.

The mob tried went to the police facility to set it on fire at round 5 pm, according to Superintendent of Police Pradyumna Karki.

Raj Kishor Thakur of Mathiya was critically injured after being hit by bullet as security personnel opened fire to disperse the cadres and supporters of the parties affiliated with United Democratic Madhesi Front that staged violent demonstration defying the prohibitory order at Kabir Chok earlier today. He breathed his last on the way to hospital.

Thakur's body has been kept at the District Hospital in Gaur for  autopsy, police said.

Though several areas in the district were declared riot-hit on yesterday evening, violent demonstration continued in Gaur.
