All Asian nations benefit from Silk Road, says Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Naya Shakti Nepal Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai said that all Asian nations would benefit from the Silk Road while it could also become a pride of the region.

Addressing the Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo underway in Guangzhou in China on Friday, Bhattarai said China's One Belt One Road initiative would help connect Asian countries.

The Maritime Silk Road would help Asia connect ith the remaining world, he said.

"To connect Chinese autonomous region Tibet and Nepal (possibly to expand up to India) by railway and road is possible both technically and economically. So, in these circumstances, the concept of geographical difficulties in developing anĀ economic corridor of China-India-Nepal is not relevant," Bhattarai argued.

According to him, it would be wise to adopt the policy to make the best use of China's capital and expertise for the massive infrastructure development and economic prosperity of Nepal.
