Nepali pilgrims die in Bihar road accident

KATHMANDU: At least two Nepali pilgrims were killed in a bus-truck collision in Kaimur district of Bihar state in India, on Tuesday night.

The Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that seven persons lost their life in the accident, identifying two of them as Nepali nationals.

The vernacular Hindi news portal, Naidunia, however, has put the number of injured at around 40. It has also claimed that all of the deceased are from Nepal.

According to the PTI report, 20 people, 10 of them critically, were injured in the accident that took place late night yesterday.

The accident took place under Mohania police station area late last night when the bus carrying pilgrims, some of them from Nepal and Uttar Pradesh, was on way to Jagannathpuri temple here, the report quoted an official as saying.

The bus had crammed into a parked truck at Kurra village in Kaimur, according to local police.

Nepali pilgrims deceased have been identified as Bhadra Bahadur and Ram Sagar. Their family names and addresses, however, are yet to be ascertained.

While the injured have been admitted to a government hospital at Mohania, those critically injured have been referred to one in Varanasi.
