At least 8 injured in clash at Birgunj border point
BIRGUNJ: Two police personnel and six protesters were injured in a clash erupted between the demonstrators and police at a border point near Birgunj on Thursday.
The clash erupted during the demonstration staged by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).
According to Parsa District Police Office, the clash erupted when the police tred to stop the leaders and cadres of UDMF from establishing tents at the border point.
The UDMF on Wednesday had announced to block Indo-Nepal border points in Tarai.
Police further said they had opened fired in the air once and lobbed three tear gas shells to control the situation.
The UDMF cadres have been staging demonstrations at the Dasgaja are since this morning to pile pressure on the government to address their demands at the earliest.
