Attacks on Congress cadres condemned

Kathmandu, February 3

Senior Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba today condemned the attacks against party leaders and workers by the agitating Madhes-based parties at a time when the NC is engrossed in its democratic exercise of holding its conventions from the local to the central level across the country.

Issuing a statement, Deuba condemned the attacks on the homes of NC leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Leela Koirala and Ram Krishna Yadav by ‘anarchist’ workers of United Democratic Madhesi Front. “The apolitical and violent group knocked down the compound wall of Nidhi’s home in Janakpur yesterday and set fire to a motorcycle there. The workers of United Democratic Madhesi Front have been attempting to discourage the workers and leaders of the NC and obstruct the party’s conventions,” Deuba said.

Deuba demanded that the government prevent these incidents and bring the anarchists to book and cautioned the concerned parties to stop their workers from carrying out such activities.
