DHANGADHI: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday inaugurated the Second Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project in Dhangadhi of Kailali - via phone!

President Bhandari was forced to stop in Bhaluwang of Dang district after the Nepal Army chopper she was aboard made an emergency landing owing to the bad weather.

Despite trying for two times, the chopper had failed to fly and made another emergency landing in Ghorahi.

Dipak Thapa, a consumer said, "The Head of the State could not attend the event; so she called from Ripu Mardan Batallion and launched it via phone."

The Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City had blacktopped the road leading to the Drinking Water Project Office overnight, after they came to know that the President would be attending the event.

Labourers were employed to fill the potholes overnight.

Meanwhile, two other programmes--Bardagoriya Mahotsav and foundation stone laying ceremony of Seti Highway--were also dismissed because of the same.

Bad weather forces President's chopper to make emergency landing

KATHMANDU:A Nepal Army chopper carrying President Bidya Devi Bhandari made an emergency landing in Bhaluwang of Dang owing to the bad weather.

The President was flying to Dhangadhi of Kailali district to attend a function today.

The head of the state has been taken to an Armed Police Force camp in Bhaluwang, police said.

Information Officer at the President's Office Prahlad Prasad Pudasaini said the President would fly to Dhangadhi immediately once the weather cleared.
