Banda costs Rs 2 billion for hoteliers

PATHARI:  The hoteliers in Biratnagar have faced a serious blow in their business due to the strike imposed by agitating Madhes-centric political parties. It is said the ongoing strike has caused loss of more than Rs 2 billion in the business.

The central committee member of Nepal Hotel Association (HAN) Rajan Shrestha said that the hotels in the region have no guests and have suffered a huge loss. Generally, most of the hotels in Biratnagar make good business by offering services to the Indian tourists entering into Nepal from different entry points of the eastern region.

The Eastern Regional Chapter of HAN said that arrival of Indian tourists has sharply declined after the strike for more than two weeks.
