Maoist faction's bandh cripples life in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Normal life in Chitwan district has been hit hard due to a bandh imposed by the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist on Friday.

Educational institutions, markets and shops pulled down their shutters from early morning in Chitwan, while short-route vehicles stayed off the roads.

The District Police Office, Chitwan, said that security personnel escorted some long-route vehicles to their respective destinations this morning.

SP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar of the DPO said  police had escorted vehicles from Pulchok, Lothar and Kurintar areas.

The Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist called the bandh in Mechi and Karnali zones today to protest the arrest of its cadres from Jhapa, Jumla and Dhading.
