Banepa school tense after teen collapses to death

KATHMANDU: Tension ran high at a private boarding school in Banepa of Kavre district on Monday after a teenage student who was found unconscious at its hostel died on the way to a hospital.

Krishna Ram Purkoti (17) from Ugratara Janagal of the district was found unconscious at the hostel of local Gyankunja Boarding School in Banepa-5.

He was being rushed to the nearby Scheer Memorial Hospital, but died on the way.

Following the incident, kin of the deceased vandalised the school entrance, waiting lounge and building windows, according to police.

Meanwhile, two police personnel were also injured in the clash with the demonstrators. They have been sent to the Nepal Police Hospital in Kathmandu for treatment.

Police had contained the situation by opening fires in the air.

Further investigation is underway.
