Beni-Jomsom road to be shut for eight hours from Friday

BENI, MYAGDI: Vehicular movement along the Beni-Jomsom road would be shut for eight hours from Friday to accelerate the upgrading task, said the District Administration Office (DAO).

A meeting of transport entrepreneurs, local body representatives, contractors and project officials, in coordination with the DAO, held on Tuesday evening took a decision to this effect.

As per the schedule, the road section will be shut from 7:30 to 11:30 in the morning, and 2:30 to 6:30 in the afternoon.

Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Adhikari said, “The road closure move was taken to complete the project in time.”

“The upgrading task of the 76-kilometre road, comprising four sections, is underway for the past six months. Under the upgrading task, the road will be blacktopped,” said Indra Singh Sherchan, supervisor for the Sharma Gajurmukhi JV, one of the contractors.

According to a project official, Sharma United JV is working on Galeshwor-Bhurung-Tatopani road whereas Sharma Gajurmukhi JV has been contracted to reconstruct Tatopani-Kobang road section.

Likewise, Koshi Construction is working on Kobang-Jomsom.
