Bird population in Nawalparasi wetlands declining

PARASI: The number of birds in the wetland areas in Nawalparasi district has decreased this year.

The bird counting conducted recently in the wetlands in the adjoining areas of the Narayani River revealed that the number of birds spotted in the region was less this year.

Ornithologist DP Chaudhary said that only 34 species of birds were spotted in the counting though altogether 47 species of birds were counted last year.

Bird counting is being done every year during this season in the wetlands in Nawalprasi with the management of Tharu Village Resort.

Chaudhary said that Saras crane, black stork, spot-billed pelican and some other types of birds have not spotted in and around the wetlands of Narayani River in the recent years.
