Bodde meets Nepal

KATHMANDU: Ambassador of United States of America to Nepal Peter W Bodde on Monday met senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and discussed contemporary issues, including the constitution making process and efforts to build reconstruction related mechanisms. According to a press release issued by Nepal’s Personal Secretary Mohan Gautam, Ambassador Bodde asked Nepal about problems regarding constitution making, time that the parties could take to complete the constitution making process, and possibilities of forging consensus on constitutional issues with other political parties. Nepal informed Bodde of the efforts under way to incorporate people’s feedback and to promulgate the constitution with the consent of maximum number of political parties. He added that reconstruction efforts were being hampered due to lack of elected local bodies and pledged to hold polls.

Conflict-hit kids aided

PHIDIM: Authorities in Panchthar on Monday provided assistance to conflict-hit children. Chief District Officer Purushottam Ghimire, in the capacity of coordinator of the district children rights protection committee, handed over Rs 12,000 to each of the 14 conflict victims here at a programme in Phidim. Among those who received assistance are orphans and mentally handicapped.

Ambulances provided

POKHARA: Lions International District 325 B1 Nepal has provided three ambulances to Bagmati, Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zones. The ambulances have been provided by Indian company Force Motors Limited with the initiative of Ayam Intercontinental. The vehicles were headed over to the Lions clubs’ representatives of Kathmandu, Pokhara and Beni chapters of the club.
