BPKIHS Sunrise Bank branch robbed

Sunrise Bank’s branch office located on the premises of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, was robbed last night.

Bank Manager Surya Balampaki said that three locks were broken open and five hundred thousand rupees was stolen. The branch office has been collecting money by taking the contract of the BPKIHS bill counter.

According to the manager Balampaki, five

hundred thousand rupees collected yesterday was stolen.

Thieves had vandalised two CCTV cameras and snapped the telephone and CCTV wires before they made off with the cash.

KTM Securities Private Limited Dharan in-charge Dilip Shrestha said the robbers had entered the bank through the window as all the doors were closed.

Shrestha claimed that KTM Securities had not signed any agreement to provide security for the bank at night.

Police said it was a sheer negligence on the part of KTM Securities and the bank itself not providing security at night. KTM Securities had been given responsibility of providing security to BPKIHS.

Area Police Office Dharan DSP Rameswor Poudel said that an investigation was under way as the incident appeared to be suspicious. “A special team has been deployed to identify the people involved in the heist,” DSP Poudel said.

A police team led by SI Tilak Giri with six police constables and more than 200 security guards have been mobilised for the security of BPKIHS.
