Bribe-taking engineers caught red-handed

NAWALPARASI: Two engineers at the Western Irrigation Development Division No.7, in Semari of Nawalparasi district, were nabbed red-handed with bribe on Sunday.

A team deployed from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Contact Office in Butwal, nabbed Ishwari Prasad Dhakal and Yogendra Mishra with Rs 56,000 bribe from their office.

The duo had allegedly demanded the kickback from the Semarhawa Tilakpur Irrigation Users' Committee to approve the project. But the anti-corruption constitutional body was tipped-off and deployed a team to nab them.

Both of them were taken to the CIAA custody in Butwal.

The CIAA said further investigation is underway.
