‘Bridge will bring economic revolution’

Dhangadi, February 28

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transportation Ramesh Lekahk inaugurated the office set-up for the construction of a bridge over the Mahakali River at Bhimdattanagar of Kanchanpur today.

The four-lane bridge that connects Bhimdatta Municipality and Dodhara-Chandani Municipality across the Mahakali River is said to be constructed with concessional loan from Active Bank of India.

Inaugurating the office, Lekhak said the bridge would play a critical role in the economic progress of province No 7. “This bridge will bring a revolution in the overall development of the entire far-west region. People and leaders of all the parties should rising above partisan interest and walk together with common development agendas,” said Lekhak.

The bridge is said to be constructed 5.6 km south of Sharada barrage and 2.6 km north of Dodhara Chandani suspension bridge.

A 7-km four-lane road also will be constructed along the bridge.

Delayed work

DAMAULI: The construction of a suspension bridge over Sange Khola, which connects Byas Municipality and Jamune VDC has been delayed as  underground water has continued to fill the ditch that had been dug for  the pillars of the bridge.

Treasurer Bishnu Thapa of non-government organisation coordination committee, Tanahun, said work had been delayed by three to four months. Chairman Pratap Gurung of the committee said construction had been obstructed. He claimed that construction work would be completed by the second week of April.

Thapa informed that Rs 7.63 million was collected from District Development Committee, local  labourers and other donor agencies for construction of the suspension  bridge.
