Bus-hit kills three in Damauli

DAMAULI: At least three persons have lost their lives and another one is seriously injured after a motorcycle they were riding on collided head-on with a bus at a sharp bend in Kamalbari along Prithvi Highway in Byas Municipality-12 on Saturday night, police said.

Sub-Inspector of Police Sunil Malla, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Tanahun, said, "Two persons had died on Saturday night, one succumbed to injuries at Gandaki Hospital in Pokhara today, while another person is undergoing treatment at the same hospital."

Malla further informed, 20-year-old Raj Raya of Rarewa Rural Municipality-3 and 21-year-old Dhiraj Chaudhary of Sugauli in Parsa district died on Saturday night while undergoing treatment at Damauli Hospital.

Likewise, 22-year-old Sanjaya Chaudhary of Pataura Sugauli in Birgjunj also lost his life in the tragic accident. He succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment the Pokhara-based Gandaki Hospital today.

Similarly, 21-year-old Bhola Chaudhary of Pataura Sugauli in Birgunj is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital in Pokhara. He is said to be in critical condition, according to police.

Police said four persons were riding on a single motorbike (Na 55 Pa 1594) before colliding head-on with a bus (Na 5 Kha 3082) coming from the opposite direction on Saturday night.

Two bodies have been kept at the Damauli Hospital for autopsy, police said.

Meanwhile, bus driver has been rounded-up at the DPO for further investigation and action, Sub-Inspector of Police Malla said.

It has been learned that the motorbike collided with the bus on the wrong side of the highway along the Muglin-Damauli road section.
