CDOs ask to increase their responsibilities

DHANGADHI: Chief District Officers of the nine districts in Province 7 on Thursday have drawn attention of provincial government on increasing their responsibilities.

The CDOs submitted a letter of concern to Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Jhapat Bohara of Province 7 in Dhangadhi seeking additional responsibilities that allow them to act as a bridge between federal government, provincial government and local levels.

“As Provincial government is preparing essential laws, we have asked it to incorporate our demands while drafting the provincial laws," said Federation of CDOs of Province 7 Ganesh Bhatta.

“We are not getting roles according to our posts and our responsibilities are limited. So we have drawn attention of the government to sort out the issues,” added Bhatta.

Likewise, Chief District Officer of Kailali, Surya Bahadur Thapa expressed his hopes on provincial government addressing their demands. "As of now the major responsibilities have been handed over to local levels which has limited our roles," said Thapa.

Meanwhile, Minister Bohora said that the government will try to address the demands posted by CDOs.
