Chepang school kids provided sweaters

School students belonging to the Chepang community were provided sweaters in Tanahun.

The District Education Office, Women and Children Office, and District Child Welfare Committee Tanahun jointly distributed the sweaters at a function organised in the district today.

District Education Officer Top Bahadur Shrestha inaugurated the function by distributing school uniform sweaters to as many as 23 students belonging to the Chepang community.

DEO Shrestha said they came up with the plan with the aim of encouraging all children to maintain cultural harmony and to protect the impoverished kids from cold.

“This programme will be a milestone in encouraging kids to attend classes regularly and to be studious and disciplined,” he claimed. He also highlighted the importance of child-friendly education.

Women and Children Office Chief Rama Adhikari, Assistant District Education officers Babu Ram Devkota and Surya Chhetri, and resource person at Damauli Resource Centre Narayan Datta Poudel, among others, underlined the importance of such programmes to boost academic excellence.

As many as 925 students of local Chandi Devi National H S School, Shiva Secondary School, Parashar Lower Secondary School, Saraswoti H S School, Janajukta Shahi H S School, Sangam Primary School and Vedbyas School, among others, were provided sweaters worth around Rs 75,000, said Assistant DEO Babu Ram Devkota.
