Chinese president keen to visit Nepal, says Speaker's Secretariat

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong told Nepal’s Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar that Chinese President Xi Xinping was keen to visit Nepal.

According to a press release issued by the speaker’s Secretariat, Chinese Vice Premier Liu, during the speaker’s visit to China, also told her to make preparations through diplomatic channel for the visit of the Chinese president.

Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar, who had left for China on September 18 leading an eight member delegation, returned home today.

The speaker discussed issues of bilateral concern with Chinese dignitaries and prospective visit of the Chinese president to Nepal, according to the release.

According to the release, the Chinese government was ready to collaborate with the new government as it did in the past and was ready to increase China’s assistance to Nepal.

The speaker had also met governors of Yunnan and Gansu provinces during her visit. During her visit, she spoke at Silk Road International Cultural Expo held at Gansu province of China.

Over 1500 people from 85 countries had taken part in the event.

Upon her return today, Speaker Magar told media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport that China was interested in providing assistance in the field of energy, tourism and agriculture.
