Chitwan District Court settles 75 per cent cases

As many as 75 per cent cases registered at the Chitwan District Court have been settled in current fiscal year.

A total of 3,260 cases were settled this fiscal. Of them, as many as 1,078 were transferred from the last fiscal and 3,237 were registered this fiscal. A source at the court said the court had settled a record number of cases so far.

Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar informed none of the resolved cases, except the one relating to murder in Gorkha’s Fujel, are more than two years old.

As many as 10 cases that are 18 to 24 months old, 28 cases that are 12 to 18 months old, 220 cases that are six to 12 months old and 797 six month old cases are pending at the court.

The court resolved 404 property dispute cases and 462 of 565 divorce cases were settled. As many as 14 cases of murder and three cases of human trafficking, among others, were also resolved.

Of 236 cases, verdicts were issued on 199 cases after continuous hearings. Similarly, 95 of 224 cases were settled through reconciliation. The court had settled 69.81 per cent of the total cases last year.
