Clashes unabated in Gaur despite curfew

RAUTAHAT: Defying curfew, protests continued unabated in Rautahat district headquarters Gaur, compelling the security forces to use force in order to contain the demonstrations.

Protestors frequently clashed with security personnel. At leat 28 protestors were injured as security forces fired rubber bullets to disperse them.

One of the injured, a rickshaw puller Sabindra Mahato, is in the critical condition and has been referred to a Birgunj-based health facility, according to the District Hospital's Dr Praveen Jha.

It has been reported that protestors and police are undergoing clashes at the local BP Chok.

Chief District Officer, Madan Bhujel, however, claimed the situation is under control now after the curfew announcement.
