CNP prepares to send Sauraha's rhino calf to China

RATNANAGAR, CHITWAN: Chitwan National Park (CNP) is preparing to send a male rhino calf to China.

According to Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Director General, Man Bahadur Khadka, if a team of wildlife experts including veterinarians from China and Nepal examined the rhino calf and verified it to be healthy enough, it would then be sent to China.

The rhino calf was bred and taken care of by CNP at its enclosure in National Nature Conservation Trust, Sauraha. CNP has already proposed to send the rhino to China, said Assistant Conservation Officer at the Park Nurendra Aryal.

The government has taken a decision to gift China with two pairs of rhinos, including one more male and two females, within the next three months.
